If you want to prepare and protect newly installed pressure-treated wood surface areas, we recommend that you allow the pressure-treated wood to dry for about a month. Don't worry if the wood should start fading and/or turning gray during that period of time, our wood prep products will rejuvenate the natural color in the wood.
Determine how much wood surface area that you will need to prep and/or protect first, before purchasing the product. Otherwise, you may not purchase enough product to complete the job. Each product within the exterior wood care system covers approximately 200 square feet per gallon, so if your wood care project is a wood deck, make sure to measure all of the wood surface areas including the deck boards, sides of the deck, steps and railings. NOTE: When measuring the railings, calculate the total length of all the railings times the height (usually 36" high) times two (for both sides of the railing system). If your deck is elevated and the underside can be seen, you may want to prepare and protect this area as well.
Always protect any areas adjacent to the wood surface areas that you are treating, so purchase any plastic coverings. Water any plant life before covering with plastic and after plastic coverings have been removed.
We recommend that you purchase a good quality garden type pump sprayer. This tool will make your job that much easier by simply spraying on each one of the products on your wood surface areas.
